Purely

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 June 2026

Purely ("the app", "we") helps you check whether packaged foods match your dietary needs and allergies. This policy explains exactly what happens to your information. The short version: Purely has no user accounts and no servers of its own. Your data stays on your device.

Information stored on your device

When you set up your profile, the app stores the following only on your device:

This information is never transmitted to us — we have no server to receive it. It remains on your device until you delete it (Settings → Reset all data, or clear your scan history) or uninstall the app.

Camera

Purely uses your camera solely to scan product barcodes. Barcode detection happens on your device. The app does not take, store, or transmit photographs.

Product lookups (Open Food Facts)

To identify a product, Purely sends the scanned barcode — or the text you type when searching — to Open Food Facts, an open, non‑profit food product database, and displays the information it returns. These requests contain only the barcode or search term; they do not include your name, profile, or any identifier. Open Food Facts' handling of requests is governed by their own privacy policy.

What we do not do

Children

Purely is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Not medical advice. Purely is an informational helper, not a medical device. Product data can be incomplete or incorrect. Always read the product packaging, and if you have a severe allergy, confirm with the manufacturer. Purely is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and post the new version at this URL.
